About This Guide

This document provides information about the SGI Linux Environment 1.1 release. It is

divided into two chapters:

• Chapter 1, “Software Overview,”describes the major features of the release and the

differences between this release and the Red Hat 6.0 release and the SGI Linux

Environment 1.1 release.

• Chapter 2, “Quick Conﬁguration and Installation Instructions,”describes the

procedures for doing the initial conﬁguration of your preinstalled SGI Linux

Environment software, as well as describing how to conﬁgure a default router,

install the operating system from a CD, and upgrade from release 1.0 to release 1.1.

TheRedHatLinux6.0InstallationGuideandtheRedHatLinux6.0GettingStartedGuideare

also shipped with your SGI machine. These guides provide essential information for

your SGI Linux Environment software. Your release package also includes the manuals

for your hardware platform.
