INSTALLATION AND OPERATIONS
UPGRADING FROM PVS 3.X
Red Hat
If you have used a PVS RPM to install PVS previously, an upgrade is simple and retains
configuration settings.
Transfer the PVS RPM package to the system it is being installed on. Confirm the integrity of
the installation package by comparing the download md5 checksum with the one listed in
the product release notes.
Before upgrading you will first need to stop the PVS service:
# service pvs stop
Install the PVS software with the following command. Note that the specific filename will
vary, depending on your version:
# rpm -Uvh pvs-x.x.x-esx.i386.rpm

[*] PVS and PVS Proxy have been installed with default configuration files
[*] Any configuration files from previous installations have been retained
[*] You may now run the post-install script at /opt/pvs/bin/pvs-post-
install.sh
Run the installation script /opt/pvs/bin/pvs-post-install.sh and when prompted, use
the upgrade option u”. Choosing the upgrade option will not affect your current
configurations.
Once the upgrade is complete, restart the PVS service with the following command:
# service pvs start

In order to ensure audit record time stamp consistency between PVS and
SecurityCenter, make sure that the underlying OS makes use of NTP as described
