Chapter 2. Release Notes
These release notes highlight technology preview items, recommended practices, known issues, and
deprecated functionality to be taken into consideration when deploying this release of Red Hat
OpenStack.
Notes for updates released during the support lifecycle of this Red Hat OpenStack release will appear
in the advisory text associated with each update or the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform

2.1. Enhancement s
This release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform features the following enhancements:
BZ #84 2136
With this update, migration operations will not attempt to copy
data when the specified source and destination are the same
filesystem location. This is due to the consideration that
recopying the data would be inefficient and may risk corrupting
the file.

The 'System Info' panel in the Administrator dashboard now has two
additional tabs displaying service status.
The 'Compute Services' tab provides additional information on the
Compute services. Details include host and current status for
nova-conductor, nova-compute, and nova-cert.
The 'Network Agents' tab is available when Networking is enabled,
and provides data on Network Agents such as L3 and DHCP.

Instances can now be started from the Instances list page.
Previously, there was no clear method to start an instance in a
shutdown state without using workarounds such as 'Reboot'.
This enhancement addresses this by adding a new 'Start' option in
the Instances list page for shutdown instances.

With this enhancement, the nova client more consistently uses the
term 'server' in help text.
Previously, the terms 'server' and 'instance' were used
interchangeably.

Compute is now able to access images directly from local and
locally mounted filesystems. Previously, only 'file://' URLs were
