Sybase SQL Server Database Agent

This section describes how to install and configure the Sybase SQL Server Data-

base Agent.

Installation Prerequisites

The Synchronization Agent for UNIX/Linux Servers must be installed to provide

communications with the InSync Server, as detailed on page 3.

Before installing the Sybase SQL Server Agent you must amend the user ID you

set up when installing the Agent that provides the transport mechanism:

1. Ensure the root user (or the user ID you set up when installing the Agent

that provides the transport mechanism) has execute access to

$SYBASE/bin/isql.

2. Make the following changes to the root user (or the user ID you set up

when installing the Agent that provides the transport mechanism):

•for the Bourne and Korn shell include the following text in the

.profile file after the existing PATH statement:

SYBASE=<sybase_home_directory>

(where <sybase_home_directory> is the directory where your

Sybase SQL Server software is installed)

export SYBASE

PATH=$PATH:$SYBASE/bin

export PATH

•for the C shell include the following text in the .cshrc file after the

existing setenv PATH statement:

setenv SYBASE=sybase_home_directory

(where sybase_home_directory is the directory where your Sybase

SQL Server software is installed)

setenv PATH=$PATH:$SYBASE/bin
