2.3.1 The Integrated Installer Fails to Upgrade on Windows 2003

On a a 32-bit Windows 2003 machine, you cannot upgrade Identity Manager on eDirectory 8.8 SP7

through integrated installer if:

 Symantec antivirus is installed and enabled.

 Setup is on a mapped drive.

To work around this issue, copy the installables to a local machine and perform installation.

2.3.2 Upgrade Fails from Prior Versions of eDirectory 8.7.3 SP9 to eDirectory

8.8 SP7

To upgrade eDirectory 8.7.3 versions prior to eDirectory 8.7.3 SP9 to eDirectory 8.8 SP7, ensure that

NICI is upgraded to the version present in eDirectory 8.8 SP7.

Use the following steps to upgrade NICI and eDirectory on UNIX platforms:

Linux

1 Stop eDirectory.

/etc/init.d/ndsd stop

2 Remove NICI.

rpm -e --nodeps nici

3 Install NICI shipped with eDirectory 8.8 SP7.

rpm -ivh nici-2.7.6-0.01.i386.rpm

4 Start eDirectory.

/etc/init.d/ndsd start

5 Run

nds-install

from the eDirectory 8.8 SP7 package.

While shutting down the eDirectory 8.7.3.x server with the latest NICI, ndsd sometimes dumps

the core in the DIB directory of eDirectory. You can ignore it because it does not corrupt data or

disrupt services.

Solaris

1 Stop eDirectory.
